I just dropped a load of cash on a selection of tracks and the Hyundai there. Got a few quid extra in the pay yesterday so that’s the company’s treat to me. 😃
So I finally put the numbers into the FOV bit within iRacing and it came out with an FOV of 45 which appears to be the absolute minimum. Felt really odd at first but I appear to feel more connected to the car and I can judge the edges of the track better. Originally it was at 65 or 70 I think.
Is that an expected value for single pancake vision? I expect it is right because it feels almost right in terms of if I was in the car. I think I will need to assign look left and right now and start using them rather than just trusting the spotter.
Been trying to dial it in because I had a shot over the weekend there (BMW GT4 at Okayama) and nothing felt right, didn’t feel connected to the car, couldn’t judge when I was losing it, car felt like it was on ice and was genuinely discouraged. Hoping these changes are a step in the right direction.
Also been fiddling around with layout of the black box, session lap time, steering inputs, etc.
Watkins Glen is nice in the BMW, no idea of pace though. Not tried Knockhill or the Hyundai yet.
