Well, just did my first pancake driving since getting my VR last year. It actually wasn’t too bad. Funnily I felt really nauseous, something that never happened before, until I adjusted the FOV to be much closer to VR. I put it to 40 degree by feel and then ran an FOV calculator which suggested 37, so I was pretty close.
I did lose the car a couple of times during my short practice, something that never really happens when in VR, so there’s definitely some downsides to it. In VR you are planted inside the car and it’s much easier to feel what it’s doing.
It was quite nice to have a high resolution for once, everything looked so clear, and the game runs at about 140 fps with all graphics settings maxed out at 1440p. It’s good to remember sometimes that my PC actually is quite fast!
One thing is that the rev lights on my wheel don’t work (I never noticed before). Has anyone else with the McLaren GT3 wheel had that issue? The option is enabled in the menu.
