I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned it here before, but there’s an ACC community known as LFM - Low Fuel Motorsport. They have over 22k registered users and have a very well rounded platform which essentially recreates the iRacing approach for ACC.

In order to participate you have to acquire a licence. To do this you simply join one of their two licence servers (one for SA80+ and another for SA90+) and complete 7 consecutive laps at an average pace of 107% of the lap record or less.

Once you’re in and participating in races you have a driver and safety rating just like iRacing.

Haven’t done any races yet but have done some practice for this week’s event which is Misano. Will probably give it a go either today or tomorrow.

Brave I’m thinking of racing LFM’s Rookie GT3 series on Sunday in their 20:16 slot… If you get your licence we could do the rookie race together. I can share a super setup from an ‘Alien’ friend for the McLaren 720S GT3.

Woohoo! Just did my first LFM race and won 😬

I didn’t realise before, but much like iRacing there are splits. I was in Split 2 but me and one other guy must have missed out on Split 1 due to our driver ratings. I say this because we were way faster than the rest of the grid. The other guy was faster than me to be fair, faster than the 0.2 secs he qualified ahead of me for pole. In the race he slowly built a gap of about 3 seconds and then lost it handing the lead of the race to me. After that he was on my tail for about 8mins through to the end of the race, and I absorbed the shit out of his pressure 😂

I thought to myself before the race, shall I record this? Nah, it won’t be an interesting race…. 🙄

As promised by Kunos in my earlier post, the Challengers DLC pack went live yesterday. It wasn’t until then that I realised there was only one additional GT3 car to the current roster, with the rest being ‘spec’ type vehicles in a Ferrari, Porsche Cup, BMW M2 CS and Lambo ST. I was a little apprehensive about buying this pack, even if it’s only £9.99, since it might not add much to the game overall, what with leagues probably sticking to GT3 mainly, and online lobbies likely to dabble with these cars initially then fall by the wayside. I wondered whether it might be a better use of money to buy the GT4 DLC instead.

However, someone with first hand experience with the cars posted some positive feedback thoughts about the pack and then I realised LFM - Low Fuel Motorsport were introducing a new series in the next season which will be a mixed spec series including the Porsche Cup and BMW M2 CS. Well, I broke like a cheap Chinese knockoff quicker than you can say Chinese Knockoff!

The Ferrari is extremely fast. I mean really, really fast! And the brakes don’t really match the acceleration performance. I think this one might not get used too much. I haven’t tried the Lambo yet, but the Porsche… my oh my, the Porsche! Love it. It sounds amazing and drives really well. I’ve never been a big fan of the Porsches with the backend always wanting to get into corners before the frontend, but this one feels a lot more planted.

Just had a fun 90 minutes getting reacquainted with my rig in ACC after seven months or so out of the seat. Really enjoyable and I feel like I was driving better than before. Not entirely unsurprising as I was pretty unwell for a few months, which is why I backed away from it at the time.

It was interesting coming back, as the load cell didn’t feel alien to me at all this time. I guess because I’d spent so long away, I didn’t really have a clear expectation of what they would feel like, unlike when I went from the original pedals to the load cells originally, which was a hell of an adjustment. Definitely felt like I had much more command of the brakes this time round.

I’ve not attached the rumble kit yet. Probably late next week.

My right arm is killing me now. Going to have to build up to longer sessions 😉

Been playing more and getting faster. I’m trying to get my ducks in a row for the LFM licence. The last few days I’ve just been just outside the 105% time at snetterton, doing hotlaps (I still have to get my safety rating up in game so I’ve been doing endurance races as well).

I realised today that my braking was actually really early and never close to 100%. I couldn’t figure it out until I loaded up the pedal calibration software and tweaked everything. Either I’ve lost a lot of leg strength (I may well have in the last several months) or the previous calibration reset itself, but I was definitely not able to comfortably and consistently hit the braking strength I needed

So I spent a a bit of time dialling that in, loaded up ACC again and within two laps was half a second under the target time. I need to get more consistent but at least I know I’m there or thereabouts.

Only issue now is that my braking points are suddenly all wrong so I need to get comfortable with braking much later now that I can use 100% of the car’s brake force.

An interesting video which I think does a good job comparing the braking in ACC vs iRacing. I think it makes a good point about how with ACC the difficulty comes in how you get off the brakes but in iRacing it’s about how you get onto the brakes that’s the tricky part.
