So this is really interesting
I still have a problem with this screen door or Mura effect in some games. Others it’s fine.
It’s seems quite divisive but it’s genuinely immersion breaking for me. when I notice it, it’s really very pronounced and I think I’ve figured out why there’s such a disparity.
My eyesight is fucked. I have very short sightedness particularly in one eye. I think it’s that that accentuates the problem.
I think I can focus closer. Rather than focusing a wee bit in the distance, the Mura, which is to do with the structure of the actual physical pixels in the screen I think (?) are causing my eyes to focus closer than they should to be immersed in vr. I’m focusing on the screen itself rather than a bit behind it.
I think this is why some people say that wearing normal glasses cures it. I’d bet a fair amount that those folks have a different eyesight issue to those people that see the Mura this badly. i think it’s to do with individual focal distances.
That and a pixel structure that has twice as many green pixels as any other colour. The solution in the video is super clever, and far from ideal but I think it points to a truth about the cause of it and explains why some games seem much worse than others.
