First impressions. I’m amazed and very slightly disappointed. But my disappointments I think are due to my personal physiological issues.
The oled screen is amazing. And when I found the sweet spot it was pretty damn sharp. Also the eye tracking, even through my glasses is really impressive.
However, it took me a lot of time to find that sweet spot and I had to tighten the head strap uncomfortably tight to get it to stay there. To the point where I’ve got a massive headache now. I think my girls will complain that the head strap won’t stay in the same place with their long hair.
Now, because I have a MASSIVE brain i also have a massive head. So I’m glad that it fits. I’m also glad that my IPD is just at the edge of its capabilities. However, I think because of the specific vision issues I have, if I have it set to the correct ipd, it’s not near sharp enough. I have to lower the ipd to get it in focus and I think that in turn has led me to feel sick for the first time in vr for years.
I will get used to it. But it’s not an ideal start.
Also, possibly because of glasses, but maybe not. Against a dark background any very bright points of light create these weird God rays which stretch the height of the lens. Again I’ll learn to ignore it.
It’s an impressive bit of kit, but it’s not the ideal experience for me initially.
That said. The Light Brigade was bloody great. and I’m frustrated that I have to take a VR legs break, but I had to charge my controllers anyway.
