Alex we’ve got the quest 2 here. It’s been very good plugged in to a pc. I can only directly compare to a rift s and it’s clearly technically a big improvement there. Imo, it’s a world of difference in racing games particularly. I’ve read that it’s actually a step up even from the Index, now that it’s been updated to 90hz.
A big plus is that because it’s massively popular, there are reams of accessories for it, which can change the experience. E.g. I found it relatively uncomfortable in its basic form, but buying a good third party head strap, and facial interface (both very easy to replace) made the experience comfortable enough that I can spend hours in VR if I want. My only qualm, as you know, is FB. But I actually think it’s worth the trade off and a massive bargain in terms of price.
You’ll need a link cable though. So do your research on third party ones because Oculus own brand one is £80.
The one minor annoyance with iRacing, is that it’ll keep launching the oculus app when you start a race even if you haven’t plugged the headset in. It pops up a dialogue asking if you want to play in VR. It’s fine, just one extra click but it’s annoying, Less so now, as the 3070 doesn’t blink at the resources used by the oculus app. But it affected performance on my laptop.
