Looks like a man who drank a hearty breakfast.

Jesus you’re a treat for the old mental health

Brave I read about this earlier but was a little confused, they said it’s only 80m away and the rover can do 200m/h but that it will take 2-3 days to get there. On the one you linked it says 2-3 lunar days which is 2-3 months but no info as to why it’ll be that slow. It’s on just about every news website and it’ll just be a funky rock 🤣

This diagram fails to include a second car crashing into the rear of the first car due to the first car stopping in the road mid-turn to allow a pedestrian to cross… 🤦🏻‍♂️

Apparently this madness became advisory in the Highway Code in 2022. Not law but could be used as evidence in court…

BritishBean It’s not madness, it’s common sense - the most vulnerable need the most protection. Anyone who drives into the back of another vehicle isn’t paying attention and isn’t driving a safe distance from the car in front - there are a lot of bad drivers around and those who cannot follow these requirements, or think they’re madness, shouldn’t be driving!

What does seem like madness is that drivers aren’t informed of these rules changes. We get reminders to pay car tax but not changes in the code. Where did you get this info?

Gammerz It’s been in the news a few times already, been voted on and now due to come into force at the end of January (29th). There will probably be more about it then. Note in the highway code there are “must/must not” and “should/should not”. The former you can be prosecuted for the latter as mentioned above can be used in court to determine liability for example.

I mean, it’s a quibble, but you’re much better off as a pedestrian being hit by a cyclist than a horse. That’s why no historical army has cyclist cavalry.

Tbh, though, you could summarise the whole page by just “look, don’t be a twat, alright?”

Gammerz I agree they’re the most vulnerable and need protection, I wouldn’t say this is a common sense way of providing that. It’s a live road and stopping in the middle of it whilst half turning into a side road is not a natural occurrence. What happened to teaching people how to cross roads safely? Don’t we have pedestrian crossings for more busy junctions that can’t be negotiated safely?

Gammerz Anyone who drives into the back of another vehicle isn’t paying attention and isn’t driving a safe distance from the car in front - there are a lot of bad drivers around and those who cannot follow these requirements, or think they’re madness, shouldn’t be driving!

Well I think they’re madness but I don’t think I shouldn’t be driving. In fact my point was focussed around the bad drivers. I’m happy to say I’ve never driven into the back of someone or caused an accident actually. However, I have had the misfortune of being driven into the back of whilst stationery at traffic lights, and been reversed into whilst I was parked in a car park. There are too many idiots on the road and this change will just increase the chances of me being a victim again!

Gammerz people aren’t aware of changes which have only just been approved (29th Dec) and don’t come into force until the end of January shocker! Outrageous! If there still hasn’t been any obvious public awareness campaigns towards the end of January you can have a good whinge and complain then.

          It’s just a bit odd.

Scary road to be driving along, especially in such a large vehicle. I remember a Top Gear episode that was similarly scary.

          “what’s in the lorry?”
          ‘Fresh underpants, I hope…”
