So I actually had a shot of the Formula wheel at a friendās a week or two back and it feels great, looks great but I was struggling to control the car oddly enough. We put the McLaren wheel on and whilst it felt larger I was instantly in control of the car. Now it could have been because it was a rig I wasnāt familiar with or the load cell but I think it was the slight difference in size.
Fast forward to now, and after fiddling with the settings and trying a few tuning settings from fanatec and also several you tubers, Iāve settled on what at the moment feels about right and Iāve got within a few tenths of my best at Zolder.
The biggest difference for me is that it isnāt a round wheel and I think thatās what threw me at first. The width feels more natural for me now but I reckon the formula width is similar to the G29.
But absolutely, the extra Ā£150 was something I really couldnāt justify and for the moment Iām quite happy.
A note about the pedals. Massive difference from the G29 pedals. Those have taken the longest for me to get used to. These things are accurate and whatever I do with my feet, they respond in kind. Whereas I think the bump stopper they had in the G29 ones messed too much with what my head said they should do and in trying to fix this I adjusted the settings to compensate. So all my brake markers are a few feet further back now so in theory I should be quicker plus feathering the throttle works with less input and quicker response.
I donāt know, maybe itās all in my head.
