The parcels arrived late this morning. Spent the rest of the morning and afternoon taking down my Thrustmaster, packing it up for selling and attaching the new gear. Was a bit of a faff adjusting the rig to suit, new holes to be drilled, reposition pedal plate and wheel mounting positions, etc - all time consuming stuff. Managed to finish it off after kids gone to bed and did my first race on ACC….
Here’s the problem, ACC has a problem in that it doesn’t allow the CSL DD to deliver its full FFB power. It’s very muted, so you have to ‘listen’ very carefully to what’s going on in your hands to manage it. I’ve heard it’s around 20% FFB right now. I’ve tried PC2 and F1 2021 and both work as you’d expect, massively greater FFB scale. So that’s quite disappointing given I mainly play ACC right now.
The kit itself is nice though. You can tell straight away it’s more premium gear. The buttons on the wheel are far more solid and have a reassuring response when you press them, unlike the Thrustmaster which felt like they could break at any moment. The pedals, which I thought looked quite cheap on the website are perfectly fine, although I would like to change the foot plates when the kits become available. More importantly, the spring tension on the throttle is perfect to me and more substantial than the Thrustmaster which caused me to struggle to maintain a constant speed during a rolling start. The brake pedal with its tough foam insert, whilst not as strong as the Thrustmaster Conical Mod, is perfectly adequate to get me by until the load cell pedal is released.
I’ll be very satisfied once the ACC issue is fixed.
You got yours @GassyHaggis ?
