So for a change I decided to do an oval for the first time. Well, I did do ovals a lot back in NASCAR Racing 2003 Season, eh, eighteen years ago… So hey, it’s like falling off a bike, right? I decided on Street Stock, which is the MX5s of the oval world.
Anyway, after doing my standard five laps practice I jumped in and somehow put it in second. I ran at the front for the whole race and absolutely could have won it but I completely misjudged a back marker and got smashed about, although managed to stay in the race and finished third. Is damage off in these?
I must say this was a lot of fun and incredibly tense, going two or three wide is crazy. Also impressed by how much people respected the line, managed to have some really great battles throughout. The big risk is when you catch the back markers though, then it becomes a potluck.
I must also say having a £150 load cell brake was not a benefit round here, I literally never touched it the entire race! Could have put a brick on the throttle too for 90% of it. 🤣
I’m tempted to do more of these, they are good palette cleansers for the road racing.
Anyway, exploring Resolve a bit more I have a video with my qualifying lap and the whole race, plus some fun. Started to learn some features, though not sure how to do transitions yet, so some of the changes are a bit abrupt.
Edit: shit it seems to be missing the “end credits” 🙁
