The end of my first proper week of iRacing was more stressful that it needed to be! With the total wreck in my first attempt to complete the Fixed series, I hadn’t got round to going again until Monday night but planned to do the 9.45pm session after the kids are out of the way. However, iRacing had other ideas. The service went down around 9pm and came back just after the session, so I had to wait for the 11.45 session. This gave me time to also get in the Sim-Lab race too, so worked out alright in the end.
The Sim-Lab race was probably the best session I’ve had in iRacing so far. I opted to avoid qualifying and start from the back. This proved a good idea, and from there I set about catching as many people as I could. The half oval layout of Charlotte Speedway helped with this. I’ve just a sort of highlights reel below. The battle for 8th on the last few laps was very fun. I had the opportunity to practice on the final few laps for my final attack to keep 8th.
I qualified for the F4 race, not a great lap but good enough for 5th. Cue T1 chaos and I just got a little unlucky. So back to the back of the grid, and the rest of the race with a slightly bent steering rack. It was still a good race with some good battles, particularly the one at the end.
PS - The F4 video hasn’t finished HD processing yet. Given it’s about 13GB (I think I didn’t render properly) and it took many hours to upload, it’ll probably still be a while until that’s done!)
