So I’ve discovered a bit of an issue with the Quick Release 1 (QR1) Lite (the free connector linking the wheel rim to the Fanatec base).
When driving in iRacing, I’d notice a clicking noise and feeling when turning the wheel in either direction. It happens once per rotation at the maximum point of resistance.
It took a while to isolate the cause but I now realise that the cause is a poor fitting QR1 Lite. On the CSL DD shaft there is a groove at the top. which the QR1 Lite has a strip of plastic on the inside which slides into the groove on the top of the CSL DD shaft, to align the pins into the wheel. It seems it’s not quite a perfect fit…
It’s very distracting, and although it’s only a small slip when it clicks it’s enough to put you off.
Having Googled the problem it seems I’m not the only one. I’ve raised a ticket, but a DIY solution of putting a few layers of sellotape over the QR1 Lite’s plastic strip, seems to be enough to stop it happening… at least with 2mins of testing anyway.
