First part of the build has arrived, the boss lady wanted a dual monitor setup

The Windows 10 21H2 update borked my USB-C monitor output from work laptop over the holiday period. Spent most of yesterday trying to resolve. Laptop is only HDMI 1.4 so didn’t support the ultra wide resolution I wanted to use - hence I was using USB-C to USB-C which did. Got work around now as I’d bought a USB-C hub before Christmas and that converts the USB-C port to 3 x USB regular and a HDMI 2.0 port. From there the resolution is supported - what a pavlova!

This did also involve installing a firmware update that installed fine but gave me a small panic on reboot when asking me for the BitLocker key I had “safely” stashed away 4 years ago! 😓

Wouldn’t have been my first choice motherboard but it was a prebuilt system that I could configure a little

That card is monstrous though 🤣

Will take a while getting used to hearing water noises from a pc though 🤣🤣

Ooops, with it not being a motherboard I would have picked I didn’t notice there’s no USB C or on the case. I guess I just expected there would be, oh well. There’s 8 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports (6 rear 2 front) so I’ve ordered a USB A to C adaptor that does 10Gbps for the Oculus, hope it doesn’t cause any issues.

I bought this computer duster and it’s genuinely become probably my favourite purchase ever. It’s so insanely powerful, the torque of the fan twists your wrist when you turn it on. The dust that is kicked up by this thing is immense. It’s so powerful it almost blew over one of my monitors. Honestly, there is not a spot of dust left in my whole house.

I do miss having a dog though, would be a fantastic implement to terrorise one with.
