Gordon But this is in no way the first time a politician has lied (it’s in their job description). However, there are ways and means of calling them out and decorum and rules to follow, or else fights break out (which is the worst way that things can fall apart). The rules are clear and you must follow them if you wish to speak and be heard, otherwise you leave. It’s fair for everyone, including BJ.

Gammerz Where’s the decorum when the PM intentionally lies and smears others, safe in the knowledge that nobody can call him on it? The rules were created in a different time, and they assumed that our MPs would have some integrity and would be capable of feeling shame. The whole thing is broken.

A big part of the problem is that a lot of this isn’t based on rules. It’s based on traditions and expectations. In the past it has generally been accepted that if someone knowingly lies to parliament, they would resign. There’s no mechanism to enforce that, so it’s wide open to abuse, as we’re seeing right now.

Popped into Asda the other day to get some bits. Of the people I saw in the store maybe 10% were wearing masks. I know it’s no longer recommended but I prefer to wear mine. I normally shop in Tesco and it’s probably 80% of people wearing masks there. Just one of those things, or is this evidence that Asda shoppers give less of a fuck?

In other news: my eldest daughter has tested positive yesterday 😩. My mother has just confirmed she’s got it too. First time this household has had to self isolate. HELP!!!

Well I succumbed to covid after it was in the house for 4 days. My wife got it 2 days after my eldest daughter tested positive, so it was inevitable really. It’s only been mild for covid standards, yesterday I had a terrible head but it’s much more like a standard cold today. The lack of smell and taste is extremely strange though. Sort of makes the whole experience of eating pretty pointless.

BritishBean I was lucky, I never lost either sense when I had it but other than that it sounds remarkably similar to the symptoms I had.

Woke up with a bit of a cough, took a test and came back faint positive. As mentioned in another thread my daughter has been positive (and in room isolation since last Friday) so unlikely a false negative. Lasted the morning ok, but feeling shittier as the day goes on. Bleurgh. 😷🤒

We’ve finally succumbed for the first time 😞 I’ve got a bit of a sore throat but Claire has quite heavy cold symptoms.

Had to happen eventually I suppose.

Still managing to avoid it, a few positive results onboard the last couple of trips I’ve done though, thankfully not spread much. Another onboard today but no one here was in contact with so far.

Child 1 has a 38.7 fever and is feeling rough. I’ve woken up with a sore throat. LFTs negative thus far but I suspect that’ll change at some point soon. Yay!

Yep, positive LFT. I feel like we’re due a chicken dinner or some other sort of award for holding out as long as we have.

Day 6 since child 1 tested positive. Fortunately her symptoms were fairly mild (fever mostly) and she seems to be getting past it now. The rest of us have had no symptoms, my wife and I have had negative LFTs every day. Starting to wonder if we’re actually going to get away with it.

I’ve probably jinxed it now 😳
