So Lilyās high school is asking all 5th and 6th years to take āstudy leaveā this week. This is a sham, and is actually due to not enough teachers being able or willing to cover the exams.
All 4 of Lilyās prelims were last week and the council deemed it sensible to cancel all study leave up to that point. Presumably because theyāre all bastards.
All of the rest of the prelims for other 5th years are this week so at least they get some time, assuming they donāt have an exam today.
Honestly Iām at the end of my tether with the whole setup. I get that itās high pressure right now, but certainly at our school, all these kids are having to cope with a series of awful decisions made by the āgrown upsā in the room. As parents itās almost impossible to know what to do.
Anxiety is a massive issue amongst kids in schools now, certainly itās hit us quite hard even with a kid who has her head screwed on.
At least in Scotland we donāt have to deal with the full situation on the way in England as regards masks, but we still canāt tread too far from the line defined by whatās happening down there.
Honestly, I keep telling myself we just need to ride this next x amount of time out and weāll be back to relative stability soon enough. But it feels like Iāve been telling myself that ever since some twats elected an orange idiot into the most powerful position in the world.
