I’ve picked up the Simagic pedals, got them fitted this morning. I’m basically copying @Brave’s setup, I went for the haptic addons and also I’ve gone with the brown spring with a single stopper. Quick question for @Brave - did you use any grease when you fitted the new spring? One reason I went for the Simagic is that I think overall it has a better ecosystem than some of the other manufacturers, so I can see myself moving on from Fanatec (given there recent troubles).
The setup was pretty involved but actually a bit less fiddly than the CSL Elites, in that you don’t need to do any hand gymnastics to hold the bolts in place while you tighten them up. It is very configurable and I ended up adjusting the angle of the plate on the pedals, which actually ended up being probably the most fiddly bit, as the holes in the new position weren’t aligned perfectly so it was hard to get the screws tightened. I ended up having to take the pedals off the rig in order to get them fully tightened up, which was a pain.
One issue is that I didn’t realise the haptics needed a separate power supply, so I’ve had to purchase that and it should come shortly hopefully. Also the supplied USB 2.0 cable is not long enough to reach my PC so I’ve had to buy a new 3m one, which also isn’t here yet. Anyway, I won’t be able to try the haptics at first, but that’s not the end of the world.
One good thing is that I have actually finally been able to bolt the pedals to the rig, which is going to make them a lot more stable. Good bye zip-ties forever! Only two bolts used at the moment as there weren’t enough holes in the plate, but I could maybe look at drilling some new ones at a later date, if I’m feeling brave.
