I ended up getting a DualSense Edge a couple of weeks ago (because of course I did, haven’t spent enough on games recently already.) I really love it. It feels great, nice and solid and well made. The back paddles are in the perfect spot for me and they feel great, unlike the ones on Steam Deck which I basically don’t use because they’re uncomfortable for me to press.
One thing I really didn’t expect to bother with is the trigger stops, but they’ve turned out to be really handy. Setting up and changing profiles is very easy, and being able to remap buttons means you can “fix” broken button layouts.
One odd thing is the function buttons. Why are there two of them? They do exactly the same thing, it’s weird. It’d be nice to have quick access to more than 3 profiles, but it’s not too hard to switch to one of the others when needed. I haven’t really bothered with the stick dead-zone/response curve stuff. It’s very cool but I don’t think I’m really at a skill level where it’s going to make a difference 😂
So basically I can’t ever go back to no back paddles again now. Curse you, Jim.
