Tried Wytchwood last night which is on PS+ Extra currently (PS4 and PS5 versions I believe). A chilled crafting game with beautiful presentation and a story/quest system over laid to give focus.
Really wanted to like it, because it’s charming and I love the style, but it very quickly descends into a mess of poor fetch quests. Situation in region A happens and you need to resolve it with a new recipe. This needs ingredients from region B, C and D and a reagent that has separate ingredients from regions B, D and E, some of the ingredients may need you to craft something else which needs stuff from other regions, but we’ll let you know about that when you get there - have fun!
The initial exploration of a new area has some interest as there is new stuff, people to talk to etc. But repeatedly traipsing back and forth between them becomes very tedious, very quickly.
It wouldn’t be so bad if there was something else to the game that the fetching hung off. Another reason for crafting other than an object for the latest quest. Some sort of survival or building persistence so you make yourself a home, personalise an area, but it just seems to boil down to a large amount of too-ing and fro-ing unfortunately.
