Decent showing from MS tonight. Lots of games, very little cringy chat (though there was some). All(?) the games coming to GamePass. Only one why I spotted not explicitly stating it was - Diablo IV. Which I presume was a “can’t say yet” type thing.
Some highlights for me:
- Redfall
- Plague Tale
- Flight Sim / Halo crossover
- Light-year Frontier
- Ereban
- Diablo IV
- Cocoon
- Wo Long
Starfield was good to finally see. Looks very nice, and huge, not all that enamored by the gunplay that looked a bit shit.
Forza looked nice. Mentioned, a couple of times, the ray tracing was “on track” (GT is only in replays). No proper game footage, but something close to it in the carefully staged demo.
Kojima was the surprise “announcement” though details on that very, very lacking.
There were quite a lot of titles announced as Console Launch Exclusive and GamePass. Which just seemed a bit odd/excessive. Why bother making it exclusive if it’s also launching on GamePass? Seems like that in itself is enough to attract people?
The Riot stuff was odd. All the games are free to play already anyway, so GamePass gets you unlocks. Seemed like one or more of the titles launching on console would have been a much bigger thing. It’s still all PC/mobile.
Overall a good show. Nice that they focused on the next 12 months and everything was basically GamePass too. The studio acquisitions really starting to pay off.
