I’m pottering along very slowly, I’ve just got to the point where I’ve cleared (ish - it’s hard to know that you’ve done all of it) upto Godrick. Godrick went down pretty easy but now I have a question about remberances. I found a bell thing on legs that can duplicate them - so presumably I can dupe Godrick’s rememberance and then cash both in for souls? Or one for each weapon? (But really it’ll be souls 😉 )

Fumanstu I think you can only use each mausoleum once so be very sure you want to duplicate the one you’re going to duplicate.

I’m not sure but I think you might get more souls by selling the remembrance than by selling the weapons? Don’t take that as gospel though. I was a kid in a candy shop and grabbed a weapon every time. 😉

Brave Yeah, having poked around on the Wiki, I’m going to save the mausoleum for later. 😆 I don’t want either of the weapons from Godrick (for this run anyway) so I’ll just take the ‘free’ souls for now.

Progress Update

Procrastination abounded for a while as I explored and avoid following obvious Grace pointers for a while. Discovered the system of cliffs and caves to the Magma Dragon and defeated him - with both my summons dead, a slither of health and no more flasks no less. played round and round the big mulberry pillar whilst loosing off the odd arrow for the last of his health.

Then decided I better take a run at Redmane castle in Caelid. Fought my way through the big dogs to the “Impassable” bridge and then got very confused by the lack of further resistance, it was eminently passable and no one batted an eyelid as galloped triumphantly across 😃. On to the castle itself and no one about bar some bat things and some minor mobs. Lots of shut doors and only a couple of big mobs in the main courtyard too. Got to festival area and had the little welcome speech but it all felt a bit wrong. Apparently this can happen if you haven’t done stuff in Caria first, so thought I’d do that next before coming back. So now made my way through that up to the second Grace. Ewww, is all I will say on the mobs so far here, ewww.

Did Caria, popped out the other side to the three sisters, fought a big dragon for a bit. Went into the middle tower … no one home 😂. Back to Redmane, still mostly empty but I can challenge Radhan. Volunteered once and almost lasted. Seemed like the host finger sat at the back summoning NPCs for the most part? Even resummoning ones who died earlier?

DrDamn that’s a major mechanic of that fight. I actually ended up soloing it as it made that mechanic more valid because it didn’t double the boss’ health bar. I stuck a tip re: that fight in spoilers in a reply to Gordon iirc.

So after a couple of failed co op goes at Rahdan I wandered back into Caelid to look for some materials. Came across Commander someone who put up a good fight but he succumbed to quick hit and run Torrent charges and dropped an item I’d forgotten someone asked for. Went back to them and followed up that quest line in the nearby village. That got me some good stuff and access to that bastard giant who keeps chucking massive pots from on top of a hill - revenge will be mine! I did also explore a little further up that way, found a properly hidden cave and filled in the final bit of Caelid map. That last but involved stabbing the “faster Torrent, FASTER!” button whilst swearing alot 😁

Explored more of Caelid last night. Had previously done the “opening” of Sellia, just went round and tidied up the loot and fought the “boss” in the town. Then went back to a cave I’d discovered “Sellia Hideaway”. Nasty multi-level cave with lots of hidden passages, a roaming nasty, what looks like an Evergaol door I didn’t have the right key for and a boss which is tough. A trio of crystal gits who all spew rot and no-one else seems to have brought a mace to the party. So lots of failed co-op attempts with others where the host generally dies quite quickly. Came very close to getting one down but damn it’s tough to avoid a trio in a small space.

A fruitless night trying to take on the boss of that damn cave. Couple of successes as co-op but they are such buggers that it’s hugely dependent on anyone you bring in being clued up enough about the fight to be helpful and not a hinderance. Will give it one more go with a twig equipped as I’ve built up a few runes on repeated attempts and come back later - the locked extra door means I have to come back at some point anyway. Need to upgrade by Morning Star a bit too.

Slowly getting back into the swing of it after taking a little Tiny Tina break. I finally got to Radahn earlier today. The recent nerfs must have been fairly drastic, because it seemed rather easy. I’m not complaining.

Making progress again. Found a couple of new areas to explore, got a couple of minor bosses (Commander Niall, Mimic Tear) and found my new favourite spirit ash - greatshield soldier. They don’t do much damage but there’s five of them and they’re extremely tanky so keep bosses occupied for ages. Between that and picking up the rotten breath incantation it’s been quite a productive couple of days.

Came on yesterday evening, neither of you online so after a couple of promising co-op tries I decided to go for it. Twig equipped, bubble up, frost applied, maxed out armour for immunity, flesh immunity boost eaten. This fight was only going one way! Died within 10 seconds of entry, didn’t even get one hit in as I tried to rush round the side to get to the sorcerer

Went back to Radhan. Tried solo and two times got him reasonably comfortably down to second phase where he flies up in the air for a bit. Both times got one hit mullered on his re-entry. Then went opposite tactic and summoned two helpers. Both very good (as there was a decent number of choices for summon I picked the funkier looking ones and they are invariably better than, say samurais 😉). Survived drop and went on to win whilst frantically backing up. Result!

This has caused Ranni’s quest line to open up and I’m now following that up. Discover it was also me not going back to chat to Rodgier also 🤭

Edit: note the stupid boss battle with the three twats is for a sorcery I have no chance of ever being able to use, but it’s the damn principle of the thing now!

Last night I cleared the new area I found a couple of days ago. Two more bosses down, including a nasty two vs one fight. Had another few tries at the Fire Giant - getting further than before but I’m not quite there yet.

I’m 140 hours in now and I’m still regularly finding new places, enemies, gear, items and game mechanics. This is easily the best game I’ve ever played. It’s just incredible.

Spent a good chunk of yesterday exploring, also did Mimic Tear and odd Dragonrot thing. Then spent the evening Sunsbro’ing near Lucaria to build up my stocks of Rune Arcs. Finished off by activating Radhan rune.

Brave well this clearly wasn’t the reason I managed to get him … 😃. His “Surprise mother f*cker!” death from above was certainly still a one shot kill anyway. I haven’t seen the patch download and I did a manual check for update yesterday. Maybe it’s a server side?

Gone back to exploration progress on the Altus Plateau - went the back door route via Magma Wyrm and Abandoned Coffin Grace. Found a couple of caves which I rinsed (Unsightly Catacombs and Sage’s Cave) good loot in both. Latter had a two fog door boss combo and one was a really interesting fight. Did them both co-op to get the lay of the land, then solo’ed the easier one before waiting for a partner for the second one. No-one came so based on a hint “Try dog” thought I’d solo but summon my wolves … got in and summon not available 😮. I think because I had my furled finger active at the time? Panicked my way through it but managed to work out what the core to the fight was despite that and came out victorious. Boss was Black Knife Assassin Invisible git for a lot of the fight, but worked out the wet floor in the middle of the cave reveals their footprints so you can time attacks as they approach - very clever. You also get a talisman which gives you a similar ability when crouched which is awesome for sneaky stealth builds.

Yeah. I’ve done this a couple of times and ended up in strife. You need to deactivate it if you want to summon spirit ashes.
