Gordon it was horrendously difficult at launch, but it’s pretty clear they could see that, because they’ve been patching it and rebalancing it constantly from about 2 weeks in. They must have seen the numbers of players stopping at early bosses; or very possibly not even the bosses, I was finding it that hard on launch. And I consider myself a soulslike veteran.
@DrDamn and I have been playing a particular coop mode which was made super hard because you couldn’t even keep shortcuts open when you wiped out, and this week they seem to even have made concessions to the player there. You now get the option to restart at the nearest shrine with a shorter shared resurrect bar ( the bar is so you can’t rez each other infinitely). Previously, if you wiped out, it was back to shrine one, with all shortcuts closed. A total reset essentially.
There were a couple of times where previously we’d decided to get to the boss in single player because the shortcuts meant we could keep some progress on death, instead of losing a couple of hours work when you hit the boss fight. I actually think that mode was the last difficulty “spike” that needed smoothed out. Now they’ve done even that, last night was super fun as a result.
I reckon @DrDamn will agree, it’s been getting noticeably fairer with every patch, and now I’d say it’s spot on. It’s still tough, but it’s very satisfying, and it’s rarely infuriating now. It always feels like @DrDamn ‘s fault if things go wrong. Not the game’s. 😅
I think it’s probably worth a punt. Just be aware of control differences if you’re playing GoT. I have some button issues every Monday night until I get my muscle memory back. Doesn’t take long, but worth noting.
