Astro Bot
Does indeed look excellent, really enjoyed the first one.
It’s another good ’un
I polished off the new bits they added to Playroom last night so I’m ready!
The bits in Playroom aren’t new areas as such but little puzzles to free bots which will unlock their outfits in Astro Bot. A Bloodborne hunter, Selene from Returnal, an Ape Escape one and a Gran Turismo one.
I’d advise using a guide if you are interested.

Just got the speedrun trophy left to do now. How hard can it be?
Played through the first level at lunchtime and messed about in the home area for a bit. It’s just joyous. It looks fantastic, it sounds great and everything seems to interact with you in a joyful way. It’s a play whilst grinning game.
One special mention I noticed early on. The way they combine haptics and controller audio is really quite clever. Quite subtle and seamless but really adds to the experience.
It is very good isn’t it? Even when I lose a life I end up smiling.
Completed the first “world” with all the collectables so far. Not tried a symbol level yet. Pacing myself.
I’m at just over 200 bots rescued now. This is the best game I’ve played all year. It’s just fantastic.
I’m probably about half way through now. Completely rinsed worlds 1 and 2, got through most of 3 - just boss + bonus level to go. I’ve not done any of the warp levels yet. About 150 bots collected.
I keep playing a level and thinking - this is awesome, this is the best one yet, then then I get to another and another. The quality hasn’t let up at all.
The collecting of the bots and then the little items for them is done with some much care and love. Every time I finish a level I’m off to the gatcha machine and then off round to see which bots I just collected new stuff for.
In terms of trickiness the main levels are really well checkpointed, I never felt held up paticularly by a tricky mob or section. The symbols levels are another matter, but they are there as a test of skills (and patience!). Done the triangle and circle sets so far. The circle ones - which unlocked after the triangle set - were a fair bit easier for me.
One final thing that is really nicely done. The end of each “world” isn’t a boss level - it’s a special specific game themed level. This acts not just as a reward for beating the boss, but a great way to finish off a world before moving on to the next one.
I’m a little bit ahead of you and agreed on everything you said. Both my kids have their own save and they’re happily working through it as well. We’ll all be sad when it ends.
