I’m really enjoying this again. It’s really nice to play on a big TV. And loving the new class system. I’ve spent the last couple of days just chewing through it with an Ogryn character that I created solely for playing with randoms.
I will say though, that it can be really difficult for the first couple of levels and that’s made worse by being on gamepass. I got stuck in with a full team of level 1s more than once and they all seem to be headless chickens at that point. It’s an almost guaranteed wipe. But if you get a few more seasoned players together, even just using the contextual call-outs, it can be a glorious experience.
On the flip side, when I got to level five I got put in with three level 1s and while it was tiresome, with people going off on their own and dying instantly and others taking forever to get to the extraction point and nearly causing us to wipe after the final hurdle, it was still fun. I managed to just about carry them through.
I think they should make sure that no group is entirely made up of level ones. Just a little bit of experience in the group can make a huge difference.
And then, when you level up enough to add an extra notch on the difficulty, I’ve found the teamwork with randoms to be mostly excellent. I reckon the fourth and fifth difficulty levels will be more suited to parties rather than random groups though.
