Have you tried the pc gamepass version Gordon ? Performance actually seems better than steam. Just finished the tutorial

That said. If you’ve got windows 11 then it’s probably already there.

It’s part of the Xbox app in 11, rather than a separate entity. I just fire up xbox to access it.

Had a fun afternoon setting up one character in each class on the GP version. So I’m good to go whenever. I think have a definite preference for Zealot and Ogryn but that’s probably because I know them well now from the steam deck. I started to understand Psyker more too, definitely a beast against tougher enemies. Veteran is an easy in for traditional shooter players I think.

I tried psyker but didn’t get it at all. The head popping was fun but seemed worse than just shooting stuff in every way. Am 100% sure I just don’t understand the class but the game doesn’t exactly go out of its way to help.

Great fun last night with @DrDamn - top moment was watching him get repeatedly Hulk smashed by a huuuuge mutie. I could barely save him because I was laughing so hard.

Yeah thanks for that @Brave 😃. It is a lot of fun - and after nursing the XBox app through the download and trying then abandoning XBox party functionality it was fairly painless (Discord worked well). I did encounter a couple of odd performance issues - one where it decided 4 frames per second was all I needed for the latter part of a round. I’m sure that will be ironed out.

The core gameplay loop is lots of fun. I played the shooty character and that tended to involve carefully lining up headshots and shooting @Brave in the back/arse/head as his Ogrin hoved into view at the critical moment. Upgrade system seems generous and fun. Level of the mobs and inclusion of genuinely tough nasties is well balanced and reminiscent of L4D rather than it’s contemporaries (which is a good thing). Looking forward to ramping up the difficulties and progressing.

Will be having another session next Monday.

Private Play (and Solo)

Starting next week, with 2 or more players in the strike team, players will be able to opt into playing privately via the mission board. This will prevent players who are not friends of a strike team member from hot joining the squad during a mission in progress.

If the squad is all disconnected and a player is left alone when the reservation time expires, the mission will become public.

As for Solo Mode, we are actively working on it. While it technically could work now, we are not happy with its state yet, and we want to ensure the solo experience lives up to your expectations. Right now, it does not, and we would do the game a disservice by implementing it.

I’m going to decompress from the final week of my first semester by spending the afternoon burning heretics. Likely I will be the only person with plans such as these, but any and all heretic burners are welcome to join should they have time. 🙂

Been having issues today. On the gamepass and steam versions. Error 9999 failed to join server.

I think it’s actually our internet connection playing up. ~~Maybe the snow is an issue we’ve had rain leak into the junction under the road before.~~ Edit: it was my powerline Ethernet. I might have to get an updated setup. I’ve been using the same stuff for years now.

Anyway in researching this I found the code for the steam experimental version of Darktide @Gordon

try and get it running beforehand though. It’s still definitely causing folk issues depending on hardware. And give yourself time to do the tutorial. With character creation it’ll probably take 15 - 30 minutes.

I’ve been really lucky though. It’s been running well on everything I have. Which is almost a guarantee that I’ll have trouble tonight.

Brave Yup, got to installed, hit play…..checking for updates, back to downloading screen and sitting at 100%, tried many fixes from google but just sits at that, whether its xbox app or microsoft store, what a pain in the ass gamepass is at times.
