I picked up the Gorillaz song pack for Synth Riders. How is this not more popular than Beat Saber? It’s way better.

Horizon is absolutely stunning, the climbing and bow action is brilliant.
I think around 30-45 minutes of moving games is my limit for now though.
Gonna try some thumper, that was great on psvr.
Have bought Demeo and Synth riders, might get that fitness game also, could do with it🤣

Played some Demeo last night and it’s bloody brilliant. Thought it would start of quite tame with the dungeons but was pretty brutal.
Would be interesting to play it co-op.
Also today fired up Synth Riders and that’s bloody good also, very much like beat saber and I don’t think I’ll need the Les mills fitness app if I use this a lot 🤣🤣

Was watching this video, which is fairly bog standard stuff, but I liked how you can see the foveated rendering working. If you watch the centre console it appears lower res with jaggy edges, but then when he looks towards the rear view mirror it it becomes higher res.

That said I think there’s something slightly off about the movements of competitor’s cars, they don’t look quite natural to my eyes. Maybe it’s just me.

I’ve always thought the other cars in GT games kinda floated across the tracks. Will be giving this a go today though.

I’ve been so busy playing other stuff I forgot about Horizon. Had a longish go earlier and I really like it. The most surprising bit for me is I seem to get no nausea at all from the movement and climbing, even stuff like jumping across big gaps and the zip lines. The bow works really well too, it’s very satisfying hitting a watcher right in the eye.

There’s some useful hand signals too.

Had a good sesh on GT7 yesterday and it runs flawlessly, very very impressed. I don’t like the whole GT UI but that’s just as annoying in non vr. Loved racing around in a wee MX5 with the roof down looking out and over the top, the only thing is it doesn’t like you sticking your head out the windows or over the windscreen as it changes to a black screen & wireframe model which is a bit of a shame.
Also in the rear view mirror it looks like you don’t see any of your car, mine had a silly big spoiler on it and it doesn’t exist in the mirror, no great deal.
Wanted to try the new track but you need collector level 15 to get that apparently, I’m at 10 😭

Just had a quick go of GT7. Brilliant but felt a bit 🤢 after one race so I’ll come back to that one! 😆

Deej The one game that didn’t really bother me even after playing for a while. It’s more walking & turning at the same time that gets to me for now.

I was ok with Horizon but have only tinkered really. Never had an issue with the old PSVR so hopefully just getting my legs back.

    So this is really interesting

I still have a problem with this screen door or Mura effect in some games. Others it’s fine.

It’s seems quite divisive but it’s genuinely immersion breaking for me. when I notice it, it’s really very pronounced and I think I’ve figured out why there’s such a disparity.

My eyesight is fucked. I have very short sightedness particularly in one eye. I think it’s that that accentuates the problem.

I think I can focus closer. Rather than focusing a wee bit in the distance, the Mura, which is to do with the structure of the actual physical pixels in the screen I think (?) are causing my eyes to focus closer than they should to be immersed in vr. I’m focusing on the screen itself rather than a bit behind it.

I think this is why some people say that wearing normal glasses cures it. I’d bet a fair amount that those folks have a different eyesight issue to those people that see the Mura this badly. i think it’s to do with individual focal distances.

That and a pixel structure that has twice as many green pixels as any other colour. The solution in the video is super clever, and far from ideal but I think it points to a truth about the cause of it and explains why some games seem much worse than others.

The Lindsay Stirling EXP track in Synth Riders is worth a look, it’s free in the game at the moment.

The devs behind Walking Dead Saints & Sinners have just announced that the PS+ version is not in fact eligible for the free PSVR2 upgrade. It’s £10, or free if you have the Tourist edition upgrade, which is £8. Seems fair enough really.

Brave I wonder if lens inserts would help? I’ve got an eye test soon and once I get my new prescription I’m going to order some.

Brave Yeah, a couple of places are offering them now. This is the one I was looking at :

There’s a firmware update for the headset today along with the release of the PS5 7.0 system update. Quite a few people online are saying some games look clearer now, particularly GT7. I’m not sure I could see much difference but it already looked great to me. NMS is still a mess though. I think it may just be wishful thinking but interesting nonetheless.

I spent a couple of hours playing RE8 last night, and it’s a pretty intense experience. I’ve already played almost to the end in the flat version, but it’s amazing just how much freakier it all feels in VR. Just simple stuff like opening a door becomes an event. Hearing noises coming from above while creeping about a dark cellar 😮

I wasn’t sure I’d be able to cope with the movement but with the vignette on it seems perfectly manageable. Going to play some more later, I really want to get to the castle and meet Lady D in VR.

So, who’s going for this then, anyone brave enough?

Jogort I was up for it but the reviews have been middling to fairly negative. I might pick it up when it goes on sale.

          Out on Tuesday. I’m in.

Walking Dead seems very good. It looks great, lovely and clear even into the distance. It’s got a similar look to Demeo - not sure what they’re doing but they both have a really nice clear “solid” look that most of the other games lack. I didn’t get too far past the tutorial but it plays really well and I got to stab some zombies right in the head.
