Not convinced, Ferrari have denied it, but also I don’t think it makes much sense as Vasseur himself isn’t that widely regarded in the F1 community. To me I think Binotto has clearly done a good job on the car, they have been right back in the action these days, the issue is the strategy, which always feels a bit too many cooks.
If you look at other teams like Merc and RB, they have had the same team principles for years through thick and thin, while Ferrari keep changing them every few years. F1 is not a sport like football where you fire the manager after every defeat, you need to give them the chance to build and develop something. To me Binotto has clearly done that, if you compare them to where they were in 2021.
Maybe if you were to level a criticism at him it’s that he is too much of an engineering manager and perhaps other areas have suffered due to that. But I would not replace him before he’s even had a chance to fix the problems that have occurred this year.
