Caught up on Ubi and gearbox.
I was actually very excited to see both Riders Republic and Rainbow Six Extraction looking really, really good. Both of those games look like great twists on their predecessors.
Rider’s Republic actually looks to have leaned much heavier into SSX than I expected, which was the only real issue I had with Steep. It didn’t do that at all and felt far too po-faced as a result. If I’m honest that’s the issue I have with a lot of Ubi games. So it’s great to see them leaning into fun there.
Extraction looks like a really clever coop take on the operator system in R6. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but what they’ve got there is more than I could have hoped for. If we can muster another 2 or 3 players, that could keep us occupied for ages, alongside all the other coop zombie shooters heading our way. I feel like there’s so many, that there’s a risk of that bubble bursting, but I LOVE that genre so I’m really really happy to see it on a purely selfish basis 🙂
Also, no actual gameplay, but I think the Avatar game could be amazing.
As for Gearbox. They need to hide Randy Pitchfork in a cupboard and throw away the key. He tarnishes everything he touches.
That said. Wonderland still sounds great, and Tribes of Midgard, well I’m preordering that after I finish this post. It’s out in a month and it’s cheap and it looks great.
