I’ve still had a lot of fun with it when in game and playing just on XBox (no PC players). A bit like BFV at launch there seems to be a great foundation in there for a fantastic game. They’ve also done some really good work in terms of enabling a lot of changes to be made server side in terms of balance etc.
I don’t understand how they manage to release stuff in such a poor state quality wise each and every time though. They do it each release, buggy mess which eventually comes good. It’s been three years, you’ve already done a lot of this multiple times, why does it seem like you are reinventing the wheel with each release?
I suspect they will now to pressure, but I really like the lack of a scoreboard in the game, a better focus on points and not K/D ratio is great. The screaming “masses” will have it back before long though I great.
One other element I’ll pick up on is the weapons. They do a lot of things well, more focused list of weapons, any specialist and equip any loadout, I found it nice and clear how to unlock particular weapons/kit and then how to unlock attachments etc. That’s all good. The only problem currently is the time needed to unlock what should be available in some form for starter players. I’m a big fan of unlocks giving more options for players, but I don’t like starting players being significantly disadvantaged and that’s the case here. Weapon balance is so out that there is a particular weapons which is dominating a lot (PP-29) and that isn’t unlocked until level 18. Until then you are getting out gunned from all sorts of ranges by an SMG.
Unlocking extra types of ammo you can easily switch to is a nice idea, but leaving players with shit ammo reserves until they unlock them is poor. Just give people a set number of rounds which is divided amongst the types they want equipped. Don’t restrict people to bugger all until they unlock more.
