On a positive note I felt like the tone of the review was pretty spot on. I actually enjoyed the read. I just think EG keep doing this. They ask the wrong person to do the review. Whether that’s deliberate or not I don’t know. But her issues with Aloy are the same ones I had from the first game.
So, while I can absolutely identify with what she says, it seems like she must have had those issues previously as it sounds no different from Zero Dawn. And yes, I know, most people like Aloy as a character. My point is who would ask someone who doesn’t like the way Aloy is portrayed to review a game starring Aloy?
As I say, EG have a huge habit of doing this kind of thing.
Aside from that I always have issues with the argument that you can’t take huge logical leaps in games with a vaguely magical sci-fi premise. Once you’ve decided to go there as a member of the audience, you better be prepared to buckle up for the ride. “As if that would ever happen” is a phrase you should utter very carefully in a game about dinosaur robots.
