Brave I thought about this quite a lot before deciding to go with PSVR2. I’m not sure standalone really makes much difference for me, and it also means Deckard will either be less powerful or will need to stream from a decent PC, neither of which is appealing. VR is a living room activity for us, and my PC is two floors up from there. We managed with the Frankenstein PSVR1 cabling setup, I’m pretty sure we’ll be OK with a single USB cable for PSVR2 🙂
In terms of software support, the majority of the third party games I’m interested in seem to land on most platforms. I reckon Alyx will turn up on PS5 at some point. Valve will likely have at least one big Deckard exclusive title for launch. Sony has Horizon and GT7 (in whatever form that ends up being) for launch. Between those, RE8 and NMS, that’ll keep me busy for a while. I’m hoping that at some point they’re going to announce ports for some of the best PSVR1 games like Astrobot. It’d be insane not to, but Jim Ryan exists, so who knows.
