Just dawned on me that the BTCC starts this weekend, with the F1 on and the GT World Challenge too. So with GT world Challenge having their first sprint weekend this season at Magny Cours there are two races, one tomorrow night (YouTube link at end of the Post) and another on Sunday all live via YouTube as well as the Qualifying sessions.

BTCC on Sunday from 10:40 with all support races on ITV4 (qualifying live on the website tomorrow apparently).

F1 at the usual times and places.

Been obsessed with Assetto Corsa Competizione this past while so quite excited to see the sprint races this weekend in the GT World Challenge after watching the endurance weekend at Monza a week or two ago (that was a 3 hour race).

Poor family won’t be able to shift me from the TV. 😁

I might partake of some of that 😊

Indy 500 tomorrow, starts 4pm on Sky F1.

Yup. Looking forward to that. GT race at Paul Ricard starts at half four on the GT World YouTube channel today too.

This weekend there’s another few events on. WRC, MotoGP, F1 and European LeMans at everyone’s favourite track (Paul Ricard 🤪).

GassyHaggis I’ve been glued to WRC Sardinia. Tanak looks as if he’s going to romp it, but this rally is a dream destroyer. I reckon it’ll be super close.

Brave He seemed worried about either the tyre or the suspension at the end of the day though. Hangover from Portugal maybe? Also I thought Ogier did remarkably well. He cleaned that road and managed to stay pretty high up when you would have expected others to push him back.

GassyHaggis yeah Ogier had an amazing day for a road sweeper. Word is he’s teetering on rolling back his retirement plans =)

I reckon it was a career ending day for poor old Teemu though.

Brave this rally is a dream destroyer. I reckon it’ll be super close.

        Called it 😄

Wow, hugely eventful day. Taka continues to be my favourite driver. Quiet, unassuming, always learning, always working, always getting better. It’s been a really smart drive from him so far imo.

Brave Tanak suffering like that could give him massive confidence issues in the next rally. But yeah for sure, definitely one of the more interesting ones I’ve watched recently.

GassyHaggis yeah definitely. I think hyundai have a massive suspension problem on their hands tbh.

Btw. I should maybe have made clear, I was referring to Takamoto Katsuta 🙂

I really admire the way he’s just consistently kept learning and stayed humble, and now is just quietly outperforming the wunderkind, Rovanpera 🙂

I’m enjoying these “Grosjean eye view” videos I have to admit. Quite impressed with both his reflexes as he catches a couple of potentially big moments, and how accurate the iRacing version seems to be. Although, I’ll have to try it in VR to get a better feel for the gradients on a couple of corners which feel flat in pancake vision but look steep in real life.

From past experience of vr, some of the corners I have trouble with make much more sense in VR.

I think it’s turn 6 which in his video looks like a plateau on top of a hill, didn’t seem like that on flat screen iRacing. Willing to bet it’ll make much more sense with a headset on.

For some reason he has become more likeable since leaving F1. Combination of maybe his life flashing before his eyes in the crash and being out of the sterile F1 environment. But yeah, I love these videos from the drivers viewpoint.

Oof, really horrible crash for Rosenquist, his throttle was stuck open and his car went through the tyre barrier. He’s been taken to hospital and was clearly in pain.

            Edit: good news he’s okay.

Safari rally this weekend. First time in 19 years.

It’s the first full day and not even done yet, but we only have 7 drivers left. 😄

Sordo out, Evans out, Solberg out, Greensmith may have some problems, Ogier in 6th despite all the drop outs.

2 days still to go and Kalle Rovanpera, who’s dad won this twice, is leading.

It’s a brutal rally, even cut down to fit the modern wrc format.

… and Neuville has a delamination!

My god they’re dropping like flies

Yeah that’s a bit mental. Seems to be the weekend for it with the Tour De France incident earlier too.

Tomorrow there’s F1, BTCC, Moto GP and British GT too… and we have visitors. Gah.
