I think the Quest 2 resolution is good for iRacing, also it runs at 70FPS which is an easier framerate to achieve in the game than some other headsets. Unlike when using a monitor framerate fluctuations in VR are murder on the experience and your stomach so you really need to be hitting that frame target constantly, which is tricky even with a very powerful PC. So I reckon the Quest 2’s res and framerate are actually a good balance between visuals and performance.
I upgraded to the Reverb G2 and it’s great, but runs at a considerable higher resolution and at 90FPS, which has been a real pain to setup the graphics options for it, especially in a game like iRacing that’s inherently a bit fiddley anyway. I ended up having to upgrade my system memory to 32GB because the memory usage by iRacing was off the charts which was causing stutters in the game. And I also only run the headset at 80% of its full resolution anyway. I didn’t have that problem with the Quest 2’s lower resolution.
In my view the Quest 2 is a great VR headset with lots of positive features, only let down by some buggy system software. Although other people don’t seem to have my complaints about that so I might be alone/over sensitive on that front.
