It’s kicked off again \o/
200 to 300m long fissure of lava. right at the far end of the absolutely massive lava field that it created previously. It’s at least 10x bigger than the first time it kicked off. Totally bewildering the scientists as they’re not even sure it’s the same volcano at this point and they thought the old one was fizzling out,
There has been a huge increase in seismic activity in the last month or so but everyone was concerned that the signs pointed to an eruption in a devastating part of the area, basically practically on top of the airport and the Blue Lagoon, very close to Reykjavik. So there’s considerable relief that it’s actually even further away from infrastructure. The biggest issue is that there’s likely to be an equivalent increase in the amount of gas being blown over populated areas, and the previous one was apparently bad enough.
Anyway I’m just happy to have another real lava lamp live on my telly. 🙂
