I find it helpful to think of rookies class exactly like rookies in a local real life race. If you have that yellow plate with the black cross, you’re expected to stay out of trouble and finish the races and not race at 100% with people who don’t know how you behave on track. Ie building trust
It’s sort of supposed to behave like that in rookies in iracing too. To an extent.
As Alex says, the quickest way out of that class is to stay clean and minimise incidents. Which unfortunately includes being aware of and steering well clear of other overly racey rookies. The racing gets a lot better in the higher up classes (there will always be bad races though, and half the time I’ll watch a replay and realise I wasn’t as innocent as I first thought 😉 ).
Your safety rating will eventually see you in races with people who prefer to race clean, or at least as clean as you. But in rookies, just try and minimise incidents and don’t get into situations where you’re racing hard. That comes later. Right now you’re in with people who haven’t committed, might never commit, and don’t understand how seriously people want to take their racing in iracing. So they don’t care, or don’t understand that braking in the lead isn’t the same as braking behind someone, may not understand that their tires have started to wear or any number of other things. These are also things that happen regularly in the real life sport too fwiw. Bottas says hello. 🙂
Once you get to D and C the asshole filter starts to kick in. But like masks, it’s still not 100% effective 😉
