GassyHaggis worth remembering that (as long as youāre confident you wonāt get off track penalties) the official TTs will gain (or lose) you a little bit of rating.
As Iāve said before, Iāve used it as part of my practice once I can hoon around in test drive without issues. I found the threat of losing a little rating is enough to focus my mind on staying on track for the 30 minutes or whatever.
I also like the focus on consistency. You get most of your rating from your best 5 sequential laps. If you take a penalty it starts you back at lap 1 of 5 again, until you complete 5 good ones.
Obviously not as lucrative or beneficial as an actual race. But I definitely find it helpful in terms of:
a/ pre-disastering me ( š )
b/ giving me the confidence that I need in terms of track knowledge. If I end up causing an accident itāll be incompetence, not being oblivious to the track layout.
c/ focusing my mind on consistency
d/ at least twice now, itās been a time trial that just nudged me into another license bracket. Iirc they also count towards participation.
I wouldnāt ever suggest replacing the races with them, but as something that I do as a psychological boost and confirmation that I do know the track they have quite a few side benefits.
Oh and they tend to be in the same conditions as the race so itās a good way to b be ready for whatever track temp it is.
