Yeah after this weekend I agree. I think any loss of grip I’ve experienced in previous races is more down to me panicking and overdriving to stay ahead of folk. It’s more that it feels alien to my general driving style. Which gives me hope for the more tyre dependent, endurance formulae 😉 . It’s what makes the cars so much fun to drive though. I started to enjoy kicking out the back end once I stopped worrying about preserving tyres.
I do think it might be an issue this week potentially. Even at just ten laps, around Laguna Seca that’s going to be a long race.
re: video editing. I use Davinci Resolve. I have access to Adobe software but I just prefer Resolve’s way of doing things. They’re also still the Hollywood standard for colour work, so the fact that they have such a powerful free option is mind-blowing.
The new version is 17 and is technically still beta and a bit buggy. However, as long as you turn on Live Save in preferences, you’ll never lose work if it crashes. To be fair, it doesn’t crash all that much anymore. I’ve had one crash recently and that’s it.
I also recommend watching tutorial videos by a guy called Casey Faris. Probably the best communicator of the lot in the Resolve tutorial niche on Youtube. He’s great at explaining the basics in a manageable way. He’s also quite camp, can be very funny and generally just makes the process fun, when it could be very, very dry indeed.
