Had two attempts at Watkins Glen yesterday. The first one at lunch was a bit of a shit show, I tried to keep space between myself and other cars but that doesn’t really help when you have someone lose control and hit you on the rear quarter. I spun and hit the armco which ripped off my front left. I soldiered on in the hope I’d still get the race participation credit but I must not have hit the criteria. I am surprised at how much negative driving I’m having to do to try and avoid incidents given the cost of iRacing, but I also accept I can improve myself. Maybe it’s because F4 is D Class?
Another attempt in the evening was more successful, although there was a big incident at the chicane at the top of the hill which I, by some miracle, missed by millimetres - I actually got a 0x contact from it. After the incident it was a dull race trying to keep up with 1st place, which ultimately I couldn’t do, but happy with 2nd.
I also missed the fact that in being C Class and competing in F4, which is obviously D Class, doesn’t count towards MPR to reach B Class next season. Seems obvious now but simply not something I had considered in my rationale for choosing a series at the start of the season. Not that it matters though as there’s plenty of interesting C Class series for next season.
