Just finished watching Ghostbusters Afterlife. Loved it to bits. I think a few of us likely have a soft spot for the originals. It was the first film I was allowed to go to the cinema with friends to see, unaccompanied. And for a 13 year old kid in the highlands that means something very different. It was a 30 mile journey one way on the bus to go there with my mates.
I just got really warm and cosy vibes during it. It felt like the an 80s movie in the best possible way.
It’s silly and warm and it really doesn’t take it’s time getting going, despite being two hours long. It really feels like a sequel. I think it successfully does what the reboot tried to do, but with a more gentle touch. And I think that’s what makes it work.
It’s also really quite touching at times.
