Brave I’m likely to be building a proper desktop before the end of the year and the low end 30xx will probably be what I go for. That all being said, I do think the most intriguing thing is what this is going to do to the prices of the 20xx series. Those card are really good already, and look set to be the budget option, which is kinda nuts.
Alex Brave Yeah I’m interested to see the price change of the 20xx series as well. We haven’t seen the 3060 yet either, which will be the budget card. That may end up being a repurposed 20xx at a lower price.
DrDamn Gammerz I get on with Windows 10 fine for the most part. I mean Windows is Windows. 10 isn’t any worse than previous.
Gammerz DrDamn You are kidding? 10 is terribly unstable in my experience. The updates have slowed down my system 3 times now! I’m fed up with having to refresh/reinstall the o/s when there’s an update. Win 7 was far more stable. Skipped 8 as everyone hated it.
Alex I’m with Damn, Windows 10 has been fine for me. A couple of small gripes but mainly everything is tickety boo.
Gammerz DrDamn Can you change the angle to get the reflection off the surface of the liquid in the cup or did you specifically angle the shot to avoid this computation?
DrDamn Gammerz Can view from any angle, it’s ray traced so takes a bit of time (few minutes) to compute anyway. I doubt much extra if you include the surface of the water in the cup.
DrDamn Latest project - low poly stylised hut. Two different renders, same view … Eevee is more of a realtime renderer, takes < second to produce this… Cycles is the ray traced render, this takes a couple of minutes for me…
Gammerz Have you any long-term aims for these project? E.g. a game? Where are these tutorials? I can foresee your planet will soon become overcrowded! 😉
DrDamn Gammerz tutorials are on YouTube. Donut one is Blender Guru, hit is Grant Abbitt. Lots out there. Blender Nation is a good resource too. Just playing and enjoying it currently. Will see where it takes me.
Gammerz DrDamn GamePass gives me most of the games on PC anyway, so that’s covered. So what is your proposed setup? A desktop PC plugged into living room main TV, with wireless Xbox controller? What about your graphics projects that need a mouse?

Gordon I got a nice surprise from work earlier this week - a shiny new PC. i9-10900F, 2080 Super, 64GB RAM and a 2TB NVME SSD. I can play Half Life Alyx finally 😃

Brave Crikey that’s awesome. You might be able to run Assetto Corsa Competizione and not have your PC burst into flames too. 😄 Edit: Alyx is very much worth it btw. It’s fairly easy to play seated if that’s a factor.
