Not had that job done specifically, but have just had a bit of work done on my house (external rendering) and the guy who did it was saying that skilled people across all trades are being offered massive amounts of money to spend the week working in London (twice as much as they would get locally). Means that local prices were going up to compensate as people who don’t want to go to London have a captive market. My guy was able to do it because it was comparatively simple, so was only a couple of days - still charged top whack but a bigger job oddly he would have turned down.
It’s one of the effects of Brexit (without wanting to get political).
