Thanks for the advice guys. Went for PC3!
Initial thoughts…
At this stage I’m content with the gamepad controls, they’ve taken a massive step forward with how the car steering reacts to your input. There’s room for improvement, I find myself nervous heading into a corner… I think it might be due to the controller vibration or lack thereof. I’ve turned it right up to Max but it’s still limited feedback. I expect some vibration when going through a corner at the limit of adhesion but it doesn’t really for you any, so it’s difficult to walk that line. Forza does a much better job in that respect, but at least you can enter a corner and deal with whatever happens and not end up in a criss-crossed tank slapper and in the barrier like with PC1 and 2.
Graphically it is pretty poor. Graphics are by no means my only interest in a game but you can’t ignore how poor this game looks. I’m playing on a Day One X1 so on a X1X things might be a little different, but for me, many developers have done a much, much better job in this area and I don’t think they really have much excuse here. Jagged edges everywhere and the frame rate drops on the built up fictional tracks. If I recall correctly PC2 didn’t look this bad on my console.
That said, put me in a GT car round Oulton or another British track you just don’t get in other console games and I’m in heaven. I think until I get through the lower rank career races my biggest enjoyment in this game will be the rivals and custom races.
