Crikey dude. That’s nuts. Are you onboard now?
Work
Yeah onboard since Sunday after getting disinfected when we got off the plane there were 14 buses to take us to the port where we then got on a little crew boat out to the ship. Started sailing through a cracking thunderstorm on Sunday night towards Singapore where we will then get some supplies then head up towards Southern China.
Before all that we were locked down in a hotel at Schiphol airport from the previous Sunday, we all had to get covid tested which is extremely unpleasant getting a swab stuck so far up your nose it feels like they’re wiping the back of your eyes. Out of 230 people from about 4 or 5 different countries we had 3 positive tests and all 3 came via Glasgow. Then we had to stay locked away from the general public until our charter flight arrived in Saturday night. All to appease the Chinese client and we’re all getting tested again at Singapore and then again at China….I can’t wait for that
Yikes. That’s not great. Stay safe dude =\
Crossed from Sri Lanka and now heading through the Malacca straights, should pass Singapore in a few days then turn towards China.
some nice skies tonight
Normal mode on phone
Night mode on phone, quite impressed
A wee clip of some of the lightning last night here off the coast of Malaysia
Amazing how much it lights up the area from total darkness.
It’s like a big photographer’s flashgun going off. I tried taking a photo of lightning at night and it just looked like a daytime photo.
More work spam
Very clear night the other night, from the moon you have Mars then Saturn and the brightest is Jupiter. Wish I’d brought my camera and zoom lens
Some stunning skies in the morning, very happy with the camera on this OnePlus 7T Pro
Currently around here sailing towards Hainan Island
Only recognise some of these places from watching Vietnam war films.
Jogortwould you just look at that low cloud!
BritishBean I’ve never seen cloud just sitting that low, you should see it when there’s a storm, it’s stunning.
Should be arriving near Hainan Island today and then it’s time for covid test number 3. All tests have been negative so far and no one else had been onboard since sailing from Malaysia to China but they just wanna test test test….. The joys of work

Now sitting just off the coast of Hainan Island next to a place called Sanya which is apparently quite a fancy resort city but we’ve no chance of getting ashore. Had our 3rd covid tests in as many weeks, I think I’m now getting used to having sticks rammed up my nose and down my throat.
Only been away almost a month and still to start the project, should be sailing to the job site tomorrow sometime for prep and subsea tests then it’s commence with pipelay.
And this morning’s 6am view
Interesting clouds this morning, what are they testing in the South China sea
Holy crap. Either way that’s alarming. That’s one hell of an updraft
It’s circular: a water spout trying to form?
