Rocket landed ok too (a bit wobbly post thruster ignition), though they didn’t want to risk passengers landing that way; good ’ol fashioned (c. 1783) parachutes for them.

The wobbliness is a fairly characteristic of NS, until the legs come out, it’s a side of effect of BE3 thrust dropping down I think.

Only problem I have with BE is the web casts always sound like marketing videos, “if you look into the biggest windows in space..” ok. Ok ok. At least with John (Inspruker) and Jessie (Anderson) you feel like they care about the science and not the sales. - we know they are there to project a positive image of SX but they understand the science. Counts for a lot. That being said I do like the NS ship and be3 engines and the way it almost hovers.

Next up: Inspiration4 on the 15th September. Orbital flight, multiple days. And that explains the rush to get the suborbital flights down ASAP. :-)

Oh it’s the Perseid meteor shower peak on the 12th, hopefully some clear skies as it’s usually quite an active shower. Been overcast most nights here lately so haven’t seen any of it yet but seen some cracking pictures.

Very good episode of Sky At Night: Exploring Jupiter. Ganymede, one of the moons, is the largest moon in the solar system, even larger than Mercury and is thought to have a liquid water ocean below the icy crust. ESA are sending a JUICE probe there, that will eventually go into orbit around it.

Also, found this easy-to-read article about matter. However, there is a theory that matter repels anti-matter.

Gammerz The thing with a lot of physics is there are issues with mathematical symmetry in the equations - for example that x squared and (minus x) squared both equal the same thing. So a lot of physics equations work in two directions and physicists kind of have to look at the universe and decide which way it goes. And they don’t always get it right first time.

So perfect clear skies as it was getting dark and I decide to get the scope outside on its go-to mount and also setup the equatorial mount for the camera to do wide shots for the meteor shower. While it’s still getting dark enough I spot Jupiter not too far above the horizon and set the scope to it. Fantastic view although small and I could see all the moons.
Not far along from Jupiter was Saturn, so target that on the software and the scope lines up and there it is, rings and all in my eye-piece, first time I’ve seen it properly like that!!!
Start setting up the camera for some meteors and 10 minutes later it gets windy, cloud completely covers the sky and it starts to rain 😭😭🤬🤬
One wee bonus though as I was setting up the scope I was sure I could hear someone walking up my drive but couldn’t see anything, turn my red headlamp on and about 5 feet from me is a Badger!! he soon scarpered off, must have been looking for the blue light district
