Totally agree, it’s gone too far the other way now, I think out of snobbery and some kind of collective desire to remain a small clique. Thing is, as I found with rFactor, pick a car that’s semi relatable like a BTCC car and it should be relatively easy to grasp at least, especially if you’ve driven at any kind of speed before.
That was really the big eye opener for me in RF2. It wasn’t /that/ hard.
I think that’s the problem with Project Cars, is that ( having looked through the devs responses in their own forums ), they got so hung up on being perceived as a sim that they lost sight of what it’s actually like to drive a car. And that meant not making any concessions whatsoever if you use a pad.. Which always confuses me as there are high profile cases of drivers who lost their legs being able to drive with modified pad controls. It shouldn’t be a consideration imo when it comes to simulation. Just make it work immersively whether it’s a wheel or a pad.
To be fair to the sim community they did get a fair amount of flack for being too twitchy though.
Maybe it comes from the way a lot of us still idolise the likes of RBR and the like.
