I spent some time yesterday fiddling with the in-game graphics settings to optimise the game performance on my 55” 4k TV. I had most things on epic originally which ran solid when I tested it a while back but I recently went into a public lobby at Zolder where the sun was setting and had some horrible stutter. I turned it down to 1440p and everything is very very comfortable now.
Whilst I was fiddling, I talked myself into trying the VR settings again. I removed the open_vr mod and started against from scratch with the VR Low preset and worked from there. After 30mins of methodically trying each setting one at a time keeping an eye on the Quest built-in performance graph and I think I’ve landed on a happy compromise between performance, and not absolutely shocking visuals. One of my issues with the old settings was I just couldn’t clearly make out apexes and the distortion in the distance whilst looking for brake markers was too distracting. I seem to have come up with a combination of settings which do a good job of managing those issues - albeit not completely removed them.
@Alex i know you said previously that one of the reasons you were out off ACC was the VR performance (even noting your pc is significantly superior to mine). If you want to see what I went with out of curiosity let me know and I’ll take a screenshot. I found not using DLSS, FSR or TAA but instead using the standard AA - temporal provided the best image / performance compromise.
