So I’ve upgraded my telescope from a cheapo visual to one that is built for imaging. A William Optics Fluorostar 91, it’s a triplet so all colours focus back nicely whereas my old one was a double lens refractor so all colours don’t align properly and you end up with blue/purple halos around stars.
First proper night with the new scope last night, damn windy but my mount was solid, here’s the final tweaked image and one I done with my old scope & Seestar S50 for comparison.
Some info about the Eastern Veil Nebula
The Eastern Veil Nebula, also known as NGC 6992, is a portion of the larger Veil Nebula complex, itself a type of supernova remnant. Located in the constellation of Cygnus and roughly 2,400 light-years away, this cloud of heated gas and dust formed from the explosive death of a star about 10,000 to 20,000 years ago. It is a three-dimensional expanding structure, with different elements emitting light in various colours, such as blue from oxygen and red from hydrogen.
