Yeah, I do, but especially with mosaics the issue will be making sure it’s in exactly the right place and dealing with the huge amount of noise I’d introduce that way. I have a few ways to do it, but ideally I’d like whatever method I use to be/look as “natural“ as possible.

I might be able to use the maximum stacking method in Siril and play with pixel rejection as well. If that doesn’t work I might end up stacking the satellite image so that I can see where the trail is, then just adding a trail in manually on another layer, before removing the noisy original satellite image.

To be honest, if I want brownie points from my tutor I’ll end up slicing prints along the path of the satellite with a scalpel and rephotographing that and then coming up with some phd level explanation of the trace of reality and how it’s reflected in the images we make. Or Freud. I hate him, but he still gets points in art school. 🤫

Plenty of planets visible at the moment. Can someone please take some photos of these to we can see the quality of images with your various image enhancing techniques?

Gammerz unfortunately it’s very very cloudy. The Seestar units are not that great for planets though, too small

Jogort Yeah I have a wedge now as well. Just waiting for the update. I’ve got the Seestar out tonight actually. I’ve got it attached to an external battery and will leave it running until I wake up.

I’ve been struggling with the MA project because it’s been nothing but clouds for weeks so having three reasonably clear nights this week is something I can’t afford to waste.

@Brave I’ve not been brave enough to leave it running and forget it about it all night for fear of rain. Although I’ve usually got it out with my main rig and the mini PC i have running that is giving me issues do I’m usually faffing around with that for hours anyway.

Although it just happened again and with my vpn on do there’s that idea gone. I’m gonna try on the PC later, see if it’s an issue only on my phone.

I only do it when I’m 100% certain. I have an Astro weather app called Xasteria which gives me a bunch of different forecasts from different sources (Norwegian met is the best one). When they all tell me it’s zero chance of rain and a couple of other normal apps align with that, then I’ll leave it out.

I took it in the previous couple of nights though.

No significant editing, just a little denoise and tweak of contrast and saturation

I get the posting error sometimes too. It seems to have started for me after the most recent upgrade. I could maybe try upgrading the forum again, although I had thought that I probably wouldn’t bother doing it again as it’s a bit of a faff. I will try restarting the server and see if that helps.

Edit: uptime of 98 days, so a restart definitely won’t hurt.

Alex I seem to get the error more often than not lately but yeah it works and you know what updating it can be like, not worth the hassle at times.

Ah, looking in the logs I see quite a lot or errors related to sending emails, via a clodofwar outlook address, which I’d forgotten existed. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten an email from the forum. I’ve turned the emails off to see if that helps things.

So had the S50 out a few nights ago on NGC 2359 Thors Helmet. Attached is the quick denoise, adjust & crop on the Seestar and the other is done through Pixinsight (not that I know what I’m doing in that 🤣🤣)
Both converted to jpg so some quality loss I expect.

I have had both my Seestar and main scope on the same target M101 galaxy, still to look through those though.
