Fumanstu That’s a hell of hand grenade you’ve just thrown in 😄
I think you’re being a tad harsh there matey. Aside from a pandemic actually being a reasonable excuse. In terms of quality, I haven’t seen a higher quality launch line up across the board. for a long time. This is a good memory jogger: https://www.gamesradar.com/uk/how-do-the-ps5-launch-titles-compare-to-ps4-ps3-ps2-and-playstation/
Looking through that list it strikes me that very few launch titles or even launches in total meet your criteria. Nintendo is generally the one that launches with one or two groundbreaking titles IMO, because they always differentiate themselves so much with their hardware. Sony and MS have almost always launched on the promise and potential of what the hardware can do down the line.
Even with that said, wait until you actually play Demon’s Souls. They managed to deliver something genuinely groundbreaking while staying true to the original. It really was something no-one has seen before, even for those of us who’d played the original. That’s what makes it so feckin amazing.
And I’m still buying titles from the launch line up now. I’ll be getting Sackboy this week for example. There hasn’t been a title from that launch that I didn’t want to play, it was more finding the time to play it. Admittedly, we’re in a dry spot now, but I remember vividly the same wait for titles after the PS4 launch. I think a pandemic is a reasonable excuse for things to be messed up here.
Hell, Astro was groundbreaking AND unique, and they gave that away for free!
This isn’t just justifying an expensive purchase going on here btw, I’ve been genuinely impressed by the consistent level of quality and how game-changing the basic tech is.
