Got mine at about 1:30. Delivery driver joked he’d delivered loads of them that day, said he’d never seen people open their doors so quickly.
First impressions are that it’s a proper chonky boi. Getting the base on was a bit of a faff. The controller is quite bulky and considerably heavier than the old one.
At first it didn’t detect my PS4, had to reboot for it to pick it up. Transfer took about an hour for me. I think it’s very network dependent. I have a complicated system with powerline adapters and an old (potentially quite slow) network switch. If I’d plugged it into the router it would probably have been faster.
AstroBot is as lovely as ever, the DualSense haptic feedback is fantastic as advertised. The OS UI feels very snappy and fast, although a little glitchy still. I was trying to download an AC: Valhalla update and it kept giving an error until I restarted.
AC: Valhalla looks great and runs at 60fps the majority of the time, although there’s a little screen tearing. According to DF the PS5 doesn’t support variable refresh rate yet, which is a shame as my TV supports it and I was looking forward to screen tearing being a thing of the past. I’m sure it will be added. It felt weird playing a big flashy console game like Valhalla and have it run at 60fps.
Overall very positive first day for the PS5.
