Gordon that’s fair.
I will say SCUF have a ridiculously good reputation so it’s not exactly indeterminate. But fair enough it’s definitely something I can see someone regretting and yeah it’s still a risk.
In my case two things nudged me into the cave. The main one is just my forever present grip issues. I really miss the ps4 back paddles because I could move stick clicks to a back button which goes a long way to make things more comfortable and honestly it’s such a Jim move to introduce the idea just before ps5 launches and then not follow through when it does.
The other is really the steam deck. The way their built in controller works is brilliant and I’m convinced more than ever that gaming controllers need to go this route because of it. But that’s as much to with the software as much as the hardware.
The deck paddles are recognised as their own input, which is super flexible and then the software goes from allowing you to do very easy basic stuff that all these paddle controllers do, to (deep in the advanced layers of the menus) crazy things like make your own radial menus (and they’re working on allowing you to have a selection of icons for those as well) attached to the trackpads and even more mad stuff.
Which is a very wind bag way of saying these “pro” pads make things way more comfortable for me, so in my niche case it’s worth the money. But I wouldn’t buy it because I thought it made me better at gaming or whatever the e-peens do.
And if I’m honest. If Jim wasn’t such a myopic twunt I’d have PS5 back paddles by now for way cheaper.
